RIGHT TO QUALITY EDUCATION
TEAM BACKGROUND
The Right to Quality Education Team and partners work with African stakeholders to provide essential school facilities for students in impoverished communities. We support communities that lack the infrastructure to provide a safe education environment for their students by building and upgrading existing school facilities.
Our team is guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4. More specifically, we are focused on promoting lifelong learning opportunities by “building and upgrading education facilities that are child, disability, and gender sensitive in order to provide a safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environment” (UN, 2018). We work tirelessly to reduce the dropout rate of students by ensuring they have access to the most basic facilities such as basic drinking water and basic sanitation. Our goal is to provide children access to a safe learning environment and a quality education. This goal is essential to improve the standard of living for the most vulnerable in the society. Any country that has a poor education system is more likely to have unacceptable social inequalities. Despite the demand for better education services and facilities across the African continent, some local and national governments struggle to provide safe, non-violent, and effective learning environments. Some reasons behind this issue include: on-going conflicts, lack of resources to build and maintain education facilities, and deficiency of basic infrastructure and professionals to provide basic education services.
The Right to Quality Education Team believes that access to basic education is essential for the sustainable development of peoples, institutions, and resources. Our initiatives are always focused on closing the gap between the quality and standard of education received in impoverished communities and the rest of the developing world.
OUR VISION
At the RQE we aim to enhance public knowledge of key issues faced by children in Africa so that we can garner support from the community and hope to learn about more funding opportunities in the future.
OUR MISSION
Furthermore, our goal is to acquire enough funding—which is vital to our organization—to implement our developmental project in building washroom and toilet facilities desperately needed in impoverish schools in parts of Africa. Enough funding will enable us to improve our projects so that we can reach a wider audience and help as many people in achieving a quality education.
GOALS
Long-term Goal
- To create awareness about the need to support vulnerable children (students) in African continent, by providing them with safe and conducive school/ educational environment.
- The Right to Quality Education Team (RQET) likes to create safe learning environment for every student which will positively influences his/her academic performance.
- Raise awareness through various Social Media Platform- by demonstrating the various predicament and challenges African students face by not having access to clean water and toilet facilities during school hours.
- To canvas support from other Non governmental Organizations, the International community, companies and individuals concerning the need to help mitigate the burden of proving schools in Africa with decent toilet and washroom facilities.
- Through our developmental projects, we aim ultimately to reduce poverty rate by providing a safer, conducive and a more optimal educational environment for African children.
Short-term Goal (2020)
- Establish partnership in the region.
- Prepare for the 2020 World Toilet Day celebration, by exposing the goals of the day through our social media platform.
- Work to make the practice of open defecation history.
